Stay or Go, day 6

For today's assessment of staying verses going I have a picture of the fire sprinkler system alarm. This equipment monitors the fire sprinkler system in the townhouses, which is wonderful that we have a sprinkler system in place in the event of a fire. I have no idea where the sprinklers are since there are none inside my unit. Maybe they are in the attic. Or maybe they are those weird circles on the ceiling that I never questioned what they were. Now that I think of it, that must be what they are. I bet they pop down and spray water if there is a fire. Well, I'm not going to test out my theory 😆.

So, there it is. The panel opens to access the controls. The issue is, it goes into alarm state often, making a loud alarm tone that I can hear when I'm on my back patio. If its very quiet in the house, I can also hear it in my kitchen and dinning room.  I can go outside and silence the alarm, but that only quiets it for about an hour and obviously doesn't fix the issue. I've tried many times to call the company and tell them their monitor system shows a fault and they need to come fix it. And the answer I got was that I needed to contact the property managers (a.k.a. Home Owners Association) and have them report it. How infuriating!! Then I email the president of the HOA and complain and he calls the company and reports it and usually they are out in the next two or three days to fix it. That means several trips outside to silence the alarm when I'm home which is annoying and irritates me more than it probably should.

Reason to stay: Home is equipped with a fire sprinkler system. Is that really a good thing?? Is it necessary?

Reason to go: I have no control over what kind of safety equipment I am living with.

If I do move, whether it is somewhere else in Orlando, or Florida, or if I choose to move north, I could research and decide for myself if a fire sprinkler system is necessary. Maybe just a bunch of fire alarms and good insurance so, in the event of a fire, I'm able to get out in time and the insurance will pay to repair or replace what was damaged. I think even if there was a sprinkler system, there would be extensive damage. We probably need it here because the building is a townhome and there are multiple residence under one roof. My next residence will be a single family house, for sure!! I guess that means I've already decided to move out of the townhouse, I just need to figure out what town I will move to... and what state that town will be in! So, in hindsight, this blog post means nothing... no matter what, I want a house-house and I am going from this residence.
