Helicopter ride for Gerald's 60th birthday, Sep 26

Gerald and I had a fantastic 30-minute helicopter ride over St Pete. We flew by the iconic Pier, Don Cesar, and the Sunshine Skyway. Our pilot was terrific, and the ride was very smooth (not death defying by any stretch of the imagination, but I guess he would soon be out of business if he scared all of customers half to death!!). 

I was amazed at how low we stayed; never more than 500 feet, and over the water we were only 100 feet. It was very interesting to see my childhood town from the air. Great place to grow up, not that I have any interest in living there now. I'm lucky that Mom and Donna still live there so I can visit often, but I could not afford to move back and wouldn't want to every if I was wealthy enough for a nice house and pool in an upscale neighborhood... too hot and too many hurricane scares!!!

 We had a nice day with family at the Beach House on Treasure Island. Same crowd. Jennifer even joined us from KY and Aunt Sandi from NY. Very nice day and week! Quarantine, Jun 14

Well, I finally pushed my luck a little too far... I got Covid 😭. This has to be the worst timing ever... I was getting the Covid test as a requirement for my upcoming trip to Portugal. Obviously, I did not go to Portugal. I was able to get e-credit for the airfare with Delta, but I think the rest of the expense is gone, none of that was refundable, especially less than 24 hours before going. I'm still making a post for my time in quarantine because it wasn't so horrible. I like my house and I had Mango to keep me company. It was kind of nice to have nothing expected of me but to stay put. For five days I didn't even move the car out of the garage. On the sixth day I did venture to the grocery store with a mask on, and the seventh day I went to CVS for another Covid test, which came back negative. Just ridiculously bad timing that this was the week I was supposed to be cycling through Portugal with friends from my bike club. Mango saying, hey, why am I locking indoors too?...

First Club Ride Post Surgery, Mar 22

Nine weeks later and I'm able to rejoin the club rides!! This first one was a D pace and only 15 miles. My next club ride will still be D pace (I may be there for a while) but it's going to be 25 miles! Feels good to be back out here. Getting on and of the bike is difficult and extending my leg for stopping is a bit painful, but I'm sure that will fade away in time. With my friends El on the left and Karen M on the right. Now to work on dropping some weight so I don't look so squished into my jersey 😢
