Ireland, Day 5, Jun 19

This should have been a riding day, Tralee to Limerick, but I opted out and let Vinny use my bike. Truthfully my butt bones were aching. The reasoning that went into me opting out was Ciarin said the route was 44 miles or nothing, and I was a little leery of 44 miles with an aching tush. I asked about a shorter option and was told no. So, Vinney and Steve said, if we want a shorter option, we'll just refuse to finish the ride and they will have to pick us up. I didn't feel like testing the system, so I told Vinny she could use the bike. Turned out great for her because she and Steve did a little side route to a famous golf course and bought a shirt. Also turns out they all opted for a shorter route and we picked them up at the 20-mile point.

My off-riding day was spent with Liz in a boring little town. We found a tearoom where the ladies pointed us in the direction of a nice hike. A little girl in the tearoom told us about the Wishing Tree, so of course, that was a must! Our walk was nice, but we got caught in a down pour on the return trip. Absolutely soaked!!

Since I wasn't riding, the day started out with a nice walk around the town we had just spent the night in. I found a beautiful church and public garden right around the corner.

The rose statue in a rose garden.

School kids on their way out to recess.

Cool statues in the garden.

The inside of the church attached to the school.

Me, laughing too much to think of a proper wish!
Liz hugging the wishing tree. Story was, you had to hug the tree and make a wish.

Liz was a nice lady; said she had been dating Mitch for about two years. They seemed like a weird couple... but she was super nice and understanding amongst all the cycling drama.

The 18th century home we walked to.

Whiskey tasting at the hotel later that night.
