FFW ride with Lori Z, Oct 15

It's been a few weeks off the bike due to traveling and the hurricane and well, me wanting to rest and sleep in! I have to admit I'm babying my knee now that I know it is bad enough to warrant a total replacement. Something about that fact has gotten me sitting on the couch much more than I should, even though I know rest is not necessary for arthritis! 

But on this day, I did venture out and do a 47 mile bike ride with Lori Z and her husband, Brian. Also with us was Anthony and Bart (I think those are the correct names, first time I rode with either of them). Lori advertised this as a D-paced ride, but she always goes much faster. I was hoping for a leisurely ride, but we were cooking. And 47 miles was rough, I was ready to be back at the car around the 40 mile marker.

  What an awesome trip this was!!! The scenery and cycling was amazing. I can't wait to return. Here's a picture dump.  This is the trailer from the tour company. There were two guides, Melanie and Ruth. They did a fantastic job keeping our bikes ready to go and keeping the group of us happy. I will definitely be taking another one of their tours, I just need to decide which one. The harbor view from our hotel. We couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay. The rooms were great, the lobby, restaurant, and breakfast spots were fantastic, and location was amazing. Except for one day when we took a ferry to our ride start, all the rides left right from the hotel and within a mile or two you were in the national park. There were from day one. We were all getting acquainted with out bikes. Some people brought theirs from home, but I think most were rentals. I rented an e-bike and boy was I in heaven!! I highly recommend it if you are going to b in hills and you are on vacatio...

Happy Thanksgiving, Nov 24

 We had a nice day with family at the Beach House on Treasure Island. Same crowd. Jennifer even joined us from KY and Aunt Sandi from NY. Very nice day and week! Dad getting ready to crave the turkey. Dad, Debbie, and Sandi "collaborating". The kitchen was a little hectic to say the least! Donna and I on the beach at sunset. Jen and I checking out the sandcastles before hitting the road back to Orlando the day after Thanksgiving. These are professional sand castle makers, btw!!!

FFW Horrible Hundred, Nov 20

 It was a truly horrible day for the FFW Horrible Hundred (cold and rainy). Thankfully, I was at the SAG stop putting pickles in little paper cups rather than riding my bike!! It was a fun weekend none-the-less. My fellow volunteers were nice and the riders coming through were terrific and very appreciative of our offerings. One of these years I'll have to ride the hills, but maybe not 100 miles! Riders enjoying their pickle juice (and other snacks)!
